Our Victorin's Blend is almost ready to leave the cellar, and we are opening pre-orders to our community before it is released more widely. Only 2,000 bottles have been made, and each one is individually numbered. The first batch is being labelled by hand, and those bottles are set aside only for the people who pre-order.

Victorin's Blend brings together Pinotage, Shiraz, Mourvèdre and a whisper of Grenache, grown in the cool maritime air of Plettenberg Bay, one of South Africa's smallest wine regions.
Pinotage leads with dark mulberry, smoke and depth, Shiraz lifts it with black pepper and spice, and Mourvèdre brings an earthy, savoury complexity, while the Grenache rounds the finish with soft red fruit. Cool-climate acidity keeps everything bright and precise, giving a medium-bodied red with soft tannins and a finish that lingers.
It is a natural companion for lamb, venison and anything cooked slowly over the fire.
He knew precisely how little Grenache the wine needed, and that one percent says a great deal about his judgement.
Every blend begins with a question of balance, and it is one that award-winning winemaker Anton Smal answers with a rare instinct. After more than eighteen years at Villiera, Anton came to the Garden Route in 2010 as the founding winemaker of the Plettenberg Bay region, and he has since made wine for many of the estates along the Plett Wine Route.
Very few people understand as well as he does how each variety behaves in this cool, maritime corner of the Cape, and that understanding sits at the heart of how he blends. With Victorin's Blend, Anton allowed Pinotage to lead and built around it with Shiraz and Mourvèdre, then added Grenache at just one percent, knowing it was enough to soften the finish without taking anything away from the depth and savoury character of the wine.
We feel very fortunate to have his talent behind every bottle we make, and we think this wine shows it more clearly than any other.
The wine is named for the Victorin's Warbler, a shy, cinnamon-breasted bird that lives in the fynbos fringes at the edge of our vines. It is seldom seen, but its melodious call fills the valley from the first warmth of spring, and once you have heard it, it stays with you long after it fades. We hope this wine does the same.
Pre-orders are open to our community before the wine is released more widely. There is no payment required today, and once the wine has received its final certification and is ready to leave the cellar, we will email you an invoice and arrange delivery or collection with you.
To allow as many people as possible to share in this release, pre-orders are limited to twelve bottles per household.
